Packrafting Advanced Skills Level III is is a packrafting course designed for those looking to take their packrafts on more demanding rivers.
*Completion of Whitewater Packrafter Level II or Equivalent Experience Required
Packrafting Course Duration: 2 days (8 – 10 hour days)
Class Ratio: 1 Instructor to every 4 students.
This 2-day course includes in-depth sessions on topics including:
Outfitting & Rigging Your Packraft,
Reading Whitewater,
Advanced Whitewater Paddling Techniques,
Principles of River Safety and Self Rescue,
Responsibilities and Techniques of River Running,
Eskino roll technique,
International river signals,
Group Rescue,
Throw Rope Bag,
Environmental Concerns.
We will also briefly touch on other subjects such as Firs Aid and wilderness Considerations For Multi-Day Trips.
This type of boating demands a specific set of skills and strategies. Rivers are an excellent resource to introduce you to this type of boating.
We focus on the importance of good decision-making, personal judgment and group responsibility in all river situations.
In order to participate in Packrafting Advanced Skills Level III each participant must:
Be in physical condition to participate in all individual skills and activities listed in the course outline.
Be able to actively swim in running water while in a PFD and helmet.
Be accountable for keeping themselves properly outfitted, fed and hydrated during full days in the field.
