EXPEDITION PADDLER LEVEL IV

Expedition Paddler Level IV is a packrafting course designed for those looking to take their packrafts on longer wilderness trips. 

*Completion of Packrafting Advanced Skills Level III or Equivalent Experience Required

Packraft Course Duration: 3 days (8 – 10 hour days)

Class Ratio: 1 Instructor to every 4 students.

EXPEDITION PACKRAFTER LEVEL IV COURSE OVERVIEW

This 3-day course is designed for packrafters looking to competently plan and execute longer trips in wilderness settings. This course includes in-depth sessions on topics including:

Multi-Day Packrafting Trip Planning,

Plan-B, 

Weather,

Hazards, 

Food, Water,

Equipment,

Packing,

Clothes, Camping,

First Aid,

Comunications,

Search And Rescue,

Reading Whitewater,

Advanced Whitewater,

Ropes, Knots, Carabiners,

Paddling Techniques,

Wilderness Considerations and Environmental Concerns.

We focus on the importance of good decision-making, personal judgment and group responsibility in all weather situations. 

 

PREREQUISITES

In order to participate in Expedition Packrafte Level IV each participant must:

  • Be in physical condition to participate in all individual skills and activities listed in the course outline. 
  • Be able to actively swim in running water while in a PFD and helmet. 
  • Be accountable for keeping themselves properly outfitted, fed and hydrated during full days in the field.
