Packrafting on the coastline of Javea was a very special experience for me. The packrafting route in particular was Ruta de los Acantilados. Although every trip gives us that special mark in our souls, and sometimes you can’t even explain why, in my case, I’m quite able to explain well.
I grew up close to the sea. Actually basically all my childhood and adolescent memories are linked to the water. But, regarding kayaking, well, I had a very frighten experience when I was a little girl. I’ve always loved boats, so obviously when I saw a Kayak for the first time, my eyes where shining bright. As I was a small child, my dad’s friend took me with him to paddle. It was a regular kayak for an adult person, but he managed to give me space. Everything was perfect till the kayak turned upside down. He couldn’t roll it back, and we were stucked. It took a while until we were able to get out of the kayak and reach the surface. I thought I would die. Literally. But my passion for the sea, and water was untouched.
I grew up surfing, diving, canyoning and hiking. Although my trips where planned based on waterfalls, rivers and lakes I could swim and feel one with nature, another experience with kayaking would only come many years later, on the coastline of Cornwall. Specially because those two things were separated in my head. I couldn’t bring a kayak while hiking for more than ten days. Kayaking in England with seals did bring a light to my spirit and the desire to do it more often. I didn’t know at that moment that something as incredible as a portable backpack kayak existed.
The first experience I had with a packraft was when I went Packrafting on the coastline of Javea. Being able to snorkelling, kayaking and hiking at the same trip, was a new discovering for me. Jávea is a beautiful place with clear blue water, and as I feel so deeply linked to the sea, I was really excited with such an astonished nature. It was summer; the temperature of the water was perfect, great weather conditions, great company. I spent 3 days doing routes, and came back recharged, promising myself to include packraft in many of my future trips. And here I am today, on this beautiful Rowild Packraft project guiding people on their packrafting adventures. A new passion was born due to Ruta de los Acantilados. If you are looking for a place to start in a easy funny way, It’s 100% recommended. Check some highlights of this route.
